The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is home to many exceptional art collections. Throughout the year several traveling exhibitions are shown in the Kinney- Lindstrom Gallery. February 8th-March 30, 2013, Linda Mitchell: Truth in Animals is featured. We kind of stumbled on this find this week and we have to tell you, this collection is a must see!
Linda Mitchell’s mixed media artwork is really amazing! It’s unique and very thought provoking. If you look closely at her paintings, you not only see fabric, glass; you will also see words. The materials Linda uses in her artwork is really quite fascinating. While viewing her artwork, you will find yourself asking yourself, “I wonder why she used that?” An exhibit that you and your family will find yourselves talking about for quite sometime.
While you are taking a tour of the current exhibition going on at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum, take a swing through the display of Bil Baird’s World of Puppets. The collection of Baird puppets is the largest holding of the late puppeteer’s work to be found anywhere. Be sure to check out The Sound of Music’s “Goat Herd Scene.” A graduate of Mason City High School, Bil Baird’s collection of puppets is a muse see when visiting the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum!
The Kids Club at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum are in full swing, offering activities to keep your kids busy and creative. Kids ages 5-12 can join the MacNider Kids Club. Adults can also enroll in classes that are ongoing at the museum. There’s always something happening at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum.
Do stop in to check out Linda Mitchell’s exhibition that is on display through March 30, 2013. Let us know what you thought about her artwork. Leave us a comment here. We’d love to hear your thoughts!
